Within about 24 hours, you’ll have your pre-qualification results. Loan types (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, or Chattel Mortgages) determine the requirements you’ll need to meet.
Step 3: Prepare Financial Documents
While these aren’t always required right away, having them ready will make the process smooth:
- W-2s or 1099s
- 2–4 weeks of recent pay stubs
- 2 years of tax returns (if self-employed)
- Verification of Employment (VOE) if pay stubs aren’t available
- Driver’s License or State ID
- Social Security card
- Proof of retirement income (if applicable)
- Bank or retirement account statements for down payment proof
